"At Home with Snuggs" is a series that revolves around individuals sharing their genuine and authentic menstruation experiences.

This month, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Ayesha Marr, a creative force who balances her work in production with modeling, content creation, and part-time floristry in London. We chatted about her career, her love for vintage, and her journey to period empowerment.

Q1- To begin with, would you mind introducing yourself, and giving us a brief overview of you, your work and what you
are all about?

Hi! I’m Ayesha. I work in post-production, and over the past few years, I’ve been a model, content creator, and part-time florist living in London. It’s hard to describe what I’m all about, but I’d say I love blending creativity, nature, and vintage influences into everything I do.

Q2- Can you tell us a little about your period/menstrual cycle? Do you suffer with cramps? Endometriosis? Had a unique experience?

My cycle has been pretty regular since I was 11. It’s only really been disrupted by hormonal contraception like the pill. The copper coil made my periods so painful that I decided to stop using it—I didn’t want to get used to the pain or put something in my body that didn’t feel right.

I’ve learned to prioritise my well-being. The cramps from the coil were unbearable, but now, I only get cramps from time to time depending on my stress levels or sugar intake.

Q3- Can you share your experience with period underwear? How has it changed your experience with menstruation?

I’ve been using period underwear for a few years now, and it’s honestly been a game-changer. I wanted to find a more sustainable and comfortable option for my period, and these have been perfect. They make me feel safe and secure, especially on long journeys or at night.

Q4- Are there any misconceptions about period underwear that you’d like to address? What do you think people should know about these products?

Yes, there are definitely misconceptions! One big one is that you’re sitting in your own blood all day—definitely not true. The layers absorb the blood, and I stay dry.

People should know that there are so many sustainable, non-toxic options out there that make your period more comfortable. Your period may be uncomfortable, but your products don’t have to be!

Q5- What advice would you give to someone who’s considering making the switch to period underwear but is unsure?

Start slow and see what works for you. Try them at night first, and bring along your usual period products for backup if you’re not ready to go all in. There’s no right or wrong—just do what feels best for your body!
I personally love period underwear and find them super easy to care for and wash.
